Lácteos Pachioj is a family run goat farm in which a rambunctious flock grazes on native plants along mountainside paddocks. The farm implements nature friendly grazing techniques that promote holistic and sustainable production of goat milk, cheeses, and yogurts. Isabel uses traditional farming techniques to reverse land degradation and ensure the sustainability of her operation. With its WCK grant, Lácteos Pachioj improved the entire production process. In the field, Isabel installed fencing to prevent her goats from grazing on neighboring farmland while also allowing her to rotate the flock between several paddocks. This is complimented by a new water collection and irrigation system to maintain the paddocks during the dry season. In the creamery, Isabel installed a pasteurizer and refrigerators to cut down production time and allow for higher output. To share her knowledge, Isabel built an agritourism center to host cooking classes that showcase the farm’s products. __ Launched after Hurricane María in 2017, and in operation through 2022, WCK’s Food Producer Network (FPN) helped smallholder farmers, fishers, and small food-related businesses revitalize their operations and begin to regrow their long-term capacity for food production, distribution, and sales. Through its three pillars—grants and loans, capacity building and networking, and volunteering and agritourism—FPN contributed to system-wide improvements in food and nutrition security and sustainability by growing the capacity of local communities to produce their own food. In doing so, we increased their resilience against future disasters. __ Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises. Applying our model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served hundreds of millions nourishing meals around the world. __ Follow WCK: Website: https://wck.org/ Instagram: https://instagram.com/wckitchen Twitter: https://twitter.com/WCKitchen Facebook: https://facebook.com/worldcentralkitchen
Ama from Ghana’s Most Beautiful made an appearance on the most recent episode of date rush. She was the beauty queen in 2010. The pretty lady stunned many.
The support WCK received in 2022 from thousands of you around the world has been truly incredible. Your support sustained our efforts over the past 12 months, allowing us to provide 195 million meals to communities impacted by crises. One cold morning in February this year changed everything for WCK. Just days after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, our Relief Team mobilized to the region to help the thousands of innocent people fleeing for safety. Quickly, we started activating restaurants in Ukraine itself and have since served more than 185 million meals in the country. And even with such a massive response, WCK teams served 10 million meals in response to emergencies in more than 30 other countries, too. Climate-fueled disasters are getting worse, so we brought relief to families affected by flooding in Kentucky, Pakistan, South Africa, Australia; wildfires in Spain and across the western United States; hurricanes in Florida, Mexico, the Caribbean, and even Canada; and so much more. At the same time, we had teams working in places like Puerto Rico, Haiti, Guatemala strengthening local systems by working hand in hand with communities. Together with local partners, WCK helped fill gaps by providing hot meals and fresh produce while the market remained closed. Coming together with local organizations, we spread love and hope the WCK way—providing comforting meals & fresh produce for families in need. #ChefsForBuffalo __ Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises, while working to build resilient food systems with locally led solutions.
